Saudi-French Collaboration Advances with Focus on Technology and Innovation

Saudi Arabia and France are witnessing a transformation in their economic relations as trade patterns evolve in line with the Kingdom’s ambitious economic diversification plans. By the year 2025, France’s exports to Saudi Arabia reached approximately $4.5 billion, whereas imports from Saudi Arabia were around $3.7 billion. This shift represents a notable change from previous years when Saudi Arabia typically experienced a trade surplus with France.

This reversal has been influenced by France’s reduced imports of oil and petroleum products. The country has been broadening its energy sources, and the relatively low oil prices in 2025 further diminished the value of energy imports from Saudi Arabia. Consequently, Saudi Arabia’s demand for French goods has increased, spanning various sectors such as aerospace, industrial equipment, pharmaceuticals, technology, and luxury items like perfumes and cosmetics.

The diversification of trade between the two nations aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to lessen the country’s reliance on oil revenues and foster the growth of new industries. As a result, French enterprises are increasingly exploring business opportunities within the Kingdom, particularly as investment and economic activities flourish in non-oil sectors.

This evolving trade relationship underscores the broader economic shifts taking place in Saudi Arabia, as the nation seeks to redefine its global economic partnerships. French companies are positioning themselves strategically to capitalize on the emerging opportunities within Saudi Arabia’s expanding non-oil economy, mirroring the Kingdom’s efforts to build a more resilient and diverse economic landscape.
