In a recent climate forecast, the National Center for Meteorology has projected an unusually hot summer for Saudi Arabia in 2026, with temperatures expected to soar above normal levels across the Kingdom. As the summer unfolds, citizens can anticipate higher-than-average temperatures, while rainfall is likely to be at or below normal in many regions.
The forecast highlights that June will likely maintain rainfall levels close to seasonal averages nationwide. However, the situation is expected to shift in July, with areas such as Jazan, Baha, Asir, Makkah, Najran, and the Eastern Province experiencing below-average rainfall. Other regions may see precipitation aligning with typical seasonal patterns.
Temperature spikes are anticipated in June, with certain areas like Jazan, Baha, parts of Makkah and Asir, as well as Madinah, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, and Tabuk, potentially seeing temperatures rise by up to 1.5°C above normal. This trend is expected to intensify in July and August, where temperatures could climb as high as 1.6°C above average, particularly affecting Jazan, Baha, and parts of Asir and Makkah. These areas are poised to be among the hottest in the country during this period.
Meteorological authorities have advised the public, along with various sectors, to stay informed by monitoring official weather updates and forecasts. This vigilance is crucial for adequate preparedness and planning to cope with the forthcoming intense heat.
