KSrelief, UK Introduce Advanced $10M Initiative for Food Security in Yemen

A significant collaboration between Saudi Arabia’s KSrelief and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office has led to the launch of a $10 million food security initiative in Yemen. This project is designed to aid vulnerable populations and bolster long-term resilience in the region.

Both KSrelief and the UK government have committed $5 million each to fund the initiative. The United Nations World Food Programme will be responsible for implementing the project across several Yemeni governorates, including Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Aden, Al-Dhale, and Lahij.

The focus of the initiative is to provide conditional cash transfers that will enhance food accessibility, repair productive infrastructure, and aid families in moving from emergency food aid towards self-sufficiency. Furthermore, the project aims to deliver vocational training, offer support to local authorities, and implement strategies to improve governance and sustainable management of community resources.

This agreement is part of a broader humanitarian commitment by Saudi Arabia through KSrelief, which has a track record of executing over 4,400 aid projects valued at more than $8.5 billion across 113 countries since 2015. The partnership underscores a continued effort to address the complex needs in Yemen while supporting sustainable development and resilience.
