In a statement shared on social media platform X, Prince Faisal emphasized the importance of restoring security and ensuring the freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, bringing conditions back to those before February 28, 2026. He highlighted the need to address all contentious issues in a manner that promotes the security and stability of the region, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s support for diplomacy over military action.
The remarks from Prince Faisal followed President Trump’s announcement on Monday that he had postponed a planned military strike on Iran, initially scheduled for Tuesday. This decision was made after Gulf states, including leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, requested a diplomatic approach as serious negotiations were reportedly underway.
Prince Faisal further urged Iran to seize this opportunity to avoid the dangerous consequences of escalating tensions. He called on Iran to engage constructively in negotiations that could lead to a comprehensive agreement, thereby achieving lasting peace in the Middle East and beyond.
