The International Monetary Fund chief, Kristalina Georgieva, has warned that any US strikes on Iran could inflict significant damage on global economic growth, largely due to potential energy price surges.
The incident underscores the precariousness of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint through which a fifth of the world’s oil flows.
