No Sharing, No Schedules: Hotel Okura’s Hakone Resort Delivers Private Hot Springs in Every Room by 2029

HAKONE, JAPAN – Hotel Okura is making a bold statement in Japan’s luxury travel scene. In 2029, the brand will open Okura Resort Hakone Gora, its first resort in Japan—and every one of its 58 rooms comes with a private outdoor onsen.

Forget crowded communal baths. Each guest gets their own hot spring, filled with genuine Owakudani thermal water, available anytime they want.

Designed by Gwenael Nicolas, the resort’s “Forest Hideaway” concept transforms Hakone’s mountain setting into a refined retreat. Add high-end teppanyaki dining and Okura’s famously attentive service, and the result is a resort built for travelers who value privacy and calm above all else.

With this opening, Hotel Okura is signaling strong confidence in Japan’s luxury travel future—and setting a new standard for hot spring resorts in the process.
